Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) detained two drug peddlers, including the ring leader of a fraud gang during a joint drive conducted at Batiaghata upazila of Khulna on Sunday.
The detainees were identified as Md Sahed Hossain, 30, ring leader of a fraud syndicate and his associate Fuzzat Ali, 32.
A total of 508 pieces of yaba tablets, one kg hemp, 15 pieces of ban syrup, one handcuff, uniforms of army and police, along with fake identity cards, and a huge number of local weapon were recovered from their possession at that time. Media officer of the BCG Headquarters Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi confirmed the matter through a press release on Sunday.
He said acting on a tip-off, a team of Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a joint drive on Saturday night in Baintala Bazar area of Batiaghata upazila and detained drug peddler and ring leader of a fraud syndicate Md Sahed Hossain, 30, and his associate Fuzzat Ali, 32.
The detainees, along with the seized drugs and locally made weapons were handed over to Batiaghata police station along with all evidences for further legal action.
