The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny will travel to Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2023 alongside vice-president Rajeev Shukla to take part in the game between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
According to the reports, officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board have invited the BCCI, and therefore after a lot of thinking, the decision has been finalized to send Roger Binny and Rajiv Shukla as India’s representatives.
“Binny, Shukla and secretary Jay Shah will be in Sri Lanka for
the marquee India vs Pakistan clash in Pallekele (Kandy) on
September 2. The trio will be back in India on September 3 after which BCCI president and vice-president will travel through Wagah border to Lahore,” a source was quoted.
The tournament is being played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka after India refused to travel to its neighbouring country.
The BCCI representative last travelled to Pakistan during India tour to Pakistan for Asia Cup in 2008. However, post Mumbai terrorist attack cricketing ties came to a halt and both the teams contested only in multi-national tournament.
