The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Roger Binny, joined the jubilant Indian team in their post-tournament celebrations following their T20 World Cup victory. The former Indian fast bowler expressed his belief that Bangladesh, a fellow subcontinental nation, should have progressed further in the competition.

Binny, who assumed the BCCI presidency in July 2022, witnessed the team's triumph firsthand. He described the experience as "immensely satisfying" and acknowledged the disappointment of missing out on the 50-over World Cup title. He lauded the team's resilience, particularly highlighting their comeback from a precarious position during the final. He remarked, "There were moments when we seemed out of contention, but the team's fighting spirit shone through. We faced similar pressure in the Pakistan encounter."

Shifting focus to Bangladesh, Binny expressed his desire to see the Tigers secure a major trophy. "It's time for Bangladesh to claim a significant title," he stated. "Sri Lanka and Pakistan have both lifted the World Cup, and even Afghanistan reached the Super 12 stage. There's no reason why Bangladesh can't achieve the same."

The BCCI President reiterated India's willingness to collaborate with Bangladesh in cricketing matters, referencing the upcoming two-Test series scheduled for July. However, he expressed disappointment with Bangladesh's overall performance in the World Cup.
