BCB meeting on Tuesday

Bangladesh national cricket team returned home on Friday after their T20 World Cup campaign came to an end.

The cricketers will have a

two-week break before the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) meets on Tuesday at 3pm in Mirpur.

A senior BCB director confirmed that the meeting will prioritise stadium construction and renovation issues, alongside other approved matters.

When asked if the World Cup performance would be discussed, the director said yes. While Bangladesh didn't have high expectations at the start, they won three group stage matches to reach the Super Eight, thanks largely to their bowling attack.

After losing their opening two Super Eight matches, Nazmul Hossain Shanto's team faced an early exit. However, the possibility of an Afghanistan semi-final appearance briefly raised hopes that Bangladesh might sneak into the knockout stages, needing to chase down a target of 115 runs in 12.1 overs.

The cricketers are due to rejoin the ongoing Tigers camp after their break. The Tigers squad are currently training in Chattogram under BCB coach Sohail Islam. They will continue their preparations for the upcoming busy Test schedule until the national team coaches arrive.

In the meantime, several players will be involved in franchise cricket over the next six weeks. Shakib Al Hasan will play in the US Major League, while Shariful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin and Rishad Hossain will feature in Canada's Global T20 tournament. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed will be in action in the LPL.
