Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) formed a committee to evaluate the Bangladesh national Cricket team’s performances in the ICC Cricket world Cup 2023.
Making the convener BCB directors Enayet Hossain Siraj the other three members of the assessment committee are BCB directors Mahbubul Anam (member) and Akram Khan (member).
The committee will analyse the reasons of contributing to the team's failures in the tournament and it will subsequently will present its findings to the Board.
However, the BCB did not fix any timeline for the committee to submit their reports.
Meanwhile, after two weeks of conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup BCB took the initiative to assess the players’ performances and the factors of doing embarrassing results with forming the committee.
Led by Enayet Hossain Siraji, chairman of the BCB Working Committee, the assessment committee will review the reports of the team director Khaled Mahmud Sujon and the head coach Chandika Haturu Singh and will talk with the related persons to find out the facts.
BCB CEO Nizamudin Chowdhury Sujon when talking to the media told that their preliminary decision was to discuss all about in their EC meeting but later on they changed their decision and planned that it would be better to collect some reports and then would bring all the matters in the board meeting.
“We actually thought that we should discuss the matter in the board meeting after managing some reports rather than to discuss in the meeting without any information.”
“We talk to the persons will think necessary, obviously coach and captain will be among them. However, right now Bangladesh is playing a Test series and then have a tour, so by this time the related peoples have no opportunity to talk. In fact, we also not want to get down their concentration from the game, so we did not fix any time-line for them to submit the report.”
“But now the committee will talk to the related persons, who are not involved with the team, Sujon told.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh cricket team went India with a high hope at least to play in the semifinal but was very ill fated that they had to returned with doing humiliate result.
Bangladesh could manage only two wins from nine matches, against Sri Lanka and two minnows Afghanistan and Netherlands.
Apart from their two wins, Bangladesh could not even play any competitive match in rest of the seven matches when they suffered woeful defeats.
Meanwhile, the allegation of assault surfaced after Ekattor TV, reported that Hathurusingha slapped a player during the match between Bangladesh and New Zealand in the World Cup.
According to the report, Hathurusingha instructed a player who was not part of the playing XI to carry water bottles to the field. The player's delayed compliance, around 30 seconds, reportedly angered Hathurusingha, leading to the alleged physical altercation. Members of the coaching staff immediately questioned Hathurusingha's actions.
When asked about the incident, Akram Khan, the board director and former Bangladesh captain, stated that they would inquire with the individuals involved in the alleged incident.
"We will assess those first," he told reporters on Wednesday in Mirpur. "If the incidents reported are true, we have to find out the reasons behind that. To us, a junior player is as important for the team as the coach. We will discuss, ask questions, and whoever is found guilty, we will report to the board."
