Bangladesh Bank (BB) has reduced the charges for income tax payments through mobile financial services, debit and credit cards and internet banking.
"Taka 20 can be charged to a customer for payment of less than Taka 25,000 as income tax using cards and interet banking. The charge will be Taka 50 if the amount of income tax is higher than Taka 25,000," said a BB circular issued here on Wednesday.
A customer can be charged a fee of one per cent per transaction or a maximum of Taka 30 (including VAT) while paying income tax through mobile financial services (MFS) or payment service provider (PSP) wallets.
The online return filing system was launched by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for e-return taxpayers from September 9. Taxpayers are paying income tax through internet banking, debit and credit cards and mobile financial services (MFS) and payment service provider (PSP) wallets.
The taxpayers were paying 1.6 per cent of their income tax as the charge for online payment before the issuance of the notification.
