Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mahbubul Alam exchanged views with the newly appointed Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail.
This exchange of views was held at the port chairman's office on Wednesday .
Chamber President Mahbubul Alam said that various mega projects of the government especially Bangabandhu Tunnel and Mirsarai Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Shilpa Nagar have been implemented, attracting local and foreign investors to Chittagong.
As a result, import-export is increasing. At the same time pressure is increasing in Chittagong port. Considering the growing import-export trade of the country in the coming days, the government has undertaken the Bay-Terminal project.
Therefore, he called on the port chairman to play a strong role in the implementation of this project by 2025. Also, effective steps should be taken to make the port more dynamic as per the ISPS code, operationalization of Patenga container terminal (PCT) along with the appointment of operators quickly. Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail said, Chittagong Port has a deep relationship with traders. Traders have a significant role behind this progress of Chittagong port today. In the days to come, traders will also have the cooperation to develop the port into a more dynamic and advanced prosperous port. He hoped to take necessary measures regarding the speedy implementation of the Bay-Terminal project and the launch of the Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) and to continue the best efforts to speed up the Chittagong port as per the Prime Minister's vision and export targets.
