No freedom fighter has received relief assistance in Shariatpur since the inception of coronavirus epidemic. This is the first time that Eid materials and relief have been distributed among the freedom fighters.
Eid items and relief were distributed by Bay Group Chairman Alhaj Shamsur Rahman Mia. The materials were distributed among 150 freedom fighters at the Muktijoddha Complex building in Gosairhat upazila of the district at 11am on Wednesday.
During this time rice, pulses, potatoes, onions, oil, sugar, gram, flour semai and soap have been distributed.
Gosairhat Upazila Chairman Md Fazlur Rahman, Wartime Commander (Gosairhat, Damudya Thana) Freedom Fighter Md Iqbal Ahmed (Bachchu), Nalmuri Union Chairman Md Mahfuzul Haque Mia, Sangbad Mohana Special Representative Journalist Dewan Md Moniruzzaman were present during the distribution.
Wartime Commander Freedom Fighter Md Iqbal Ahmed (Bachchu) said, “Alhaj Shamsur Rahman Mia is by our side and there will be no reason to disregard him. Every year on 26th March, during the great Independence Day, he distributes gifts to our freedom fighters.”
At that time, the chairman of the upazila Fazlul Rahman said, “Alhaj Shamsur Rahman Mia is known as an educationist and philanthropist of this country, he always stands by the side of helpless people.
His financial support has helped many doctors and engineers in the country. We go to him when there is an accident in our area and we talk to him about the problem. He always listens to us and tries to solve the problem as much as he can.”
