Barishal University, nestled in the heart of Bangladesh, celebrated its 13th founding anniversary with great fervor and enthusiasm. The occasion was marked by a symposium aimed at fostering the proliferation of knowledge, echoing the sentiments of Dr. A. K. Azad Chowdhury, former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University.
Dr. Chowdhury emphasized the pivotal role universities play in advancing knowledge, transcending geographical boundaries. He hailed Barishal University as the realization of Bangladesh's aspirations, envisioned by the country's founding father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and established by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The anniversary event witnessed the participation of notable figures such as Professor Dr. Mohammad Badruzzaman Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of Barishal University, Dr. Gulshan Ara Latifa from the Bangladesh Accreditation Council, and Commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police, Jihadul Kabir.
Various dignitaries, faculty members, and students shared their perspectives during the symposium. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Baten Choudhury, President of the Teachers' Association, Mohammad Tanvir Kayes, Chairman of the English Department, and Arif Hossain, Provost of Bangabandhu Hall, were among the speakers.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with a colorful hot air balloon festoon in the morning, followed by a solemn tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later, a vibrant rally adorned the campus, showcasing the university's unity and spirit.
Additionally, as part of the university's initiative, a voluntary blood donation drive was organized in the administrative building, followed by a cultural program in the evening.
Barishal University Day 2024 exemplified the institution's commitment to academic excellence and community engagement, symbolizing its journey towards greater achievements in the realm of education and beyond.
