The district administration and environment directorate raided the warehouse of banned polythene in Chaktai-Khatunganj area of Chattogram. 1700 kg of prohibited polythene warehouse in Khatunganj was seized and a fine of 60 thousand taka was imposed by the mobile court of the district administration.
The district administration and environment department conducted the operation on Monday morning. Executive Magistrate Prateek Dutta led the operation. In this operation, these banned polythene was seized from two warehouse in an area called Osmania Goli and fined 60,000 taka was imposed. Executive Magistrate Prateek Datta said that 1.7 tons (1700 kg) of banned polythene was seized from an unnamed warehouse of Osmania Goli and a warehouse of Rahman & Brothers in Chaktai-Khatunganj area. The estimated value of these polythene is 3 lakh taka. Both the organizations have been fined 30 thousand taka and a total of 60 thousand taka.
Chattogram Acting Deputy Commissioner Abdul Malek said, we are determined to build a polythene-free city. Such operations will continue.
