Branches of the commercial banks and non-bank financial institutions (NBFI) witness no crowd on Sunday as the ongoing movement of the anti-quota protesters intensified since early hours of the day.
Bank officials said that customers were not able to visit branches physically to meet their needs due to the turbulent situation outside.
An officials at the cash counter of Mutual Trust Bank, Banglamotor branch told Bangladesh Post that since morning they found not any crowd like other days because people are scared of coming out of their home amid the violent situation outside.
Similar situation was found at the Hatirpool Sub-Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh.
Badrul Millat, senior officer of the branch told Bangladesh Post that the officials of all the desks arrived timely and they were prepared to provide all services but customer’s presence was very negligible.
Banks will take initiative to keep branches open as per their convenience. Generally banking transactions take place from 10 am to 4 pm, and the official banking hours is from 10 am to 6 pm.

“Visitors are not turning out to the branches except those who have emergency reasons. Some are coming for cash withdrawal. Besides, some are meeting their needs through internet banking, MFS which are on full swing”, said an official.
