A Bangladeshi national was strangled to death by a gang of robbers at Hayabusa area in South Africa on Wednesday
The deceased was identified as Kamal Hossain alias Asif Iqbal, who used to run a shop in the area.
Arafat Hossain Sifat, nephew of Kamal Hussain, confirmed the matter.
He said that the incident took place around 3pm on Wednesday when a group of South African bandits attacked him at his workplace.
The victim, who hailed from the Gohatta area of Mograpara union in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district, Kamal has lived in South Africa for the past ten years. He left behind his wife and a daughter, said Arafat. According to the deceased family members, Kamal operated a shop in South Africa's Hayabusa area which was targeted by the gang of robbers on Wednesday evening. After ransacking the shop, the assailants wrapped his head with polythene and fatally strangled him to death before fleeing.
With the assistance from relevant embassy, arrangements are being made to bring his body back to the country, they added.
