Bangladeshi series’ Valobasa’ streams on Kolkata new OTT

A new OTT platform ‘Friday’ launched in Kolkata recently. Bangladeshi filmmaker Abu Hayat Mahmud’s series ‘Bhalobasa’ has been streaming on the platform since it launched. An official from the platform said that viewers from Bangladesh can also watch it.

The journey of the platform started at 6:30 pm local time on Saturday. After that, Abu Hayat Mahmud’s four-part series began streaming. It is produced by Alpha Eye Studios Limited. Pradeep Roy, the head of post-production and technical at the platform. Speaking from Kolkata, Pradeep Roy said, “Our platform started on Saturday evening with this Bangladeshi content and many other shows. Viewers from different countries can enjoy our content.”

The director is happy to have his series released on the launch of a new platform outside of Bangladesh. Abu Hayat Mahmud told, “I produced the series a year ago. The new platform purchased it last January. I feel good that my series was released at the launch. The screenplay is written by Muntaha Britta.”

The director shared that the story of ‘Bhalobasa’ is inspired by true events. It revolves around the deaths of two family members in Mumbai.

 Abu Hayat said, “Not only death, but the love of three generations is also highlighted in the story.”

The series stars Musharraf Karim, Zakia Bari Mom, Adar Azad, Nadia Nodi, and others. Zakia Bari Mom said, “The story of the series is very beautiful. Finally, it was released. Bengali speakers all over the world can see it through this platform. This is very happy news for me. I always want to work on good stories. And when the audience gets to see my work, I feel comfortable.”

Apart from ‘Bhalobasa’, the platform also features other shows like Arindom Sheel’s ‘Nineteen April’, Kamleswar Mukhopadhyay’s ‘Night of Crime’, Sagnik Chatterjee’s ‘Lady Chatterjee’, Arindam Chakraborty’s ‘Ami Nandini’, Deep Modak’s ‘Necro’, and Kaushik Khor’s ‘Fatash’.
