Online and distance learning are growing rapidly in Bangladesh, thanks to better access to the internet and digital technology. Several platforms now offer flexible and diverse learning opportunities to students and professionals.
Bangladesh Open University (BOU):
Established in 1992, BOU is a pioneer in distance education in Bangladesh. Initially using national television, radio, and regional centers, BOU now also provides online resources.
The university offers formal programs, including certificates, diplomas, degrees, and master’s courses, with exams every six months. Non-formal programs, which cover topics like agriculture, health, and environmental protection, are aimed at educating the masses and do not require formal assessments.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University (BDU):
BDU, the first fully digital public university in Bangladesh, was established to promote online and virtual learning. Launched in 2019, BDU offers bachelor’s degree programs like BSc in ICT in Education and BSc in the Internet of Things.
