A Bangladeshi youth migrant has been killed in an Israeli airstrike on Lebanon’s capital Beirut on Saturday.
According to the officials of Bangladesh embassy in Beirut, the 31-year-old victim Bangladeshi youth was identified as Mohammed Nizam. The son of Mohammed Abdul Quddus and Mst Anowara Begum, Nizam hailed from Kharera in Brahmanbaria’s Kasba Upazila.
This is the first incident of a Bangladeshi migrant being killed in the Israel-Lebanon war.
Israel attacked the neighbourhood of Hazmieh in Beirut on Saturday evening.
The officials said, Nizam died on the spot around 3:30pm local time during an Israeli airstrike in Hazmieh. He had stopped at a coffee shop on his way to work.
Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan, Bangladesh ambassador to Lebanon, expressed his deep shock over the death of ‘remittance soldier’ Nizam and prayed for his departed soul.
