Bangladesh will purchase 200 train compartments (passenger carriages) for the broad gauge line of the railway from India.
Bangladesh Railway on Monday signed a contract with Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) in this regard.
Railway Minister Md Zillul Hakim, Secretary Humayun Kabir, Bangladesh Railway director general Sardar Sahadat Ali, RITES chairman and managing director Rahul Mittal, Indian Railway production unit member Sanjay Kumar Pankaj, and European Union head of corporation Mitchell Cresa were present on the occasion.
The Railway said the carriages would completely be handed over within 36 months, however, the delivery would start after 20 months following all kinds of formalities.
