The first one-day match between Bangladesh Women and Sri Lanka Women was abandoned due to persistent rain at P Sara Oval, Colombo, on Saturday.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Chamari Athapaththu was the standout performer for Sri Lanka, scoring 47 off just 37 deliveries. However, she did not receive much support from her teammates as the Bangladesh bowlers managed to keep them in check.
Nahida Akter was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, taking three wickets and causing trouble for the Sri Lankan batters.
Bangladesh started strongly with the ball, picking up the early wicket of Harshitha Samarawickrama. The early breakthrough gave them the momentum they needed to put Sri Lanka under pressure.
Unfortunately, persistent rain interrupted play and eventually forced the match to be abandoned as Sri Lanka managed to score only 152-6 in 36.4 overs.
