Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Sunday said Bangladesh has set an example in the world in making women empowerment and creating women leadership.
She said this when British Council Bangladesh Director (Programmes) David Knox and Mongol Deep Foundation’s Founding Chairperson Sara Zaker paid a courtesy call on her at her office at Jatiya Sangsad in the capital.
The speaker said women are leading the country’s development after being elected in polls from remote areas bagging massive votes.
During the meeting, they discussed issues Women of the World (WOW) Festival, women development and eliminating gender discrimination, women leadership in Bangladesh and social outlook on women leadership.
Shirin Sharmin urged the guardians to ensure equality in providing all familial facilities to both male and female children.
Sara Zaker said Bangladeshi women are also marching forward in all spheres of life. She underscored the need for showcasing the success stories of women to all.
David Knox praised the women leadership of Bangladesh. Knox also invited Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury to join the Women of the World (WOW) Festival as the chief guest.
Asiatic Experimental Marketing Limited Executive Director (administration) Farooque Ahmed, British Council Bangladesh Head of Arts Nahin Idris and Jatiya Sangsad secretariat senior officials were present on the occasion.
