The Bangladesh government has sent “goodwill aid” for the people of Lebanon due to the Beirut explosion that killed more than 160 people, injured over 6,000 and left 300,000 people homeless.
Five Bangladeshi nationals were also killed and more than 100 were injured in the explosion, according to the foreign ministry.
The goodwill aid which was sent on Sunday included nine tons of food items, two tons of medicines and medical supplies.
A transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force with those supplies and four high level officers of Bangladesh Navy, an officer of Bangladesh Army and 12 crew member of Bangladesh Air Force reached at Rafic Hariri International Airport, Beirut on Monday morning.
Bangladesh Ambassador Major General Md. Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman handed over the goodwill aid to the nominated local representative of the Lebanese government.
