Bangladesh return to winning ways

Both men’s and women’s chess teams of Bangladesh returned to their winning track in the 45th Chess Olympiad beating Cyprus and Barbados 3.5-0.5, respectively, in the third round in Budapest, Hungary on Friday. 

Following their defeats in the second round, the teams are on four points each after winning the third round.  

In the Men’s open division, International Master (IM) Fahad Rahman defeated Fide Master (FM) Michaelides Konstantinos, Grand Master (GM) Enamul Hossain Zia beat CM Savva Panikos and his son Fide Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia, who played his first match in the ongoing tournament, beat Kefalas Loukas, while FM Manon Reja Neer drew against Isaakidis Alexandros.

Meanwhile, in the women’s divisin, WFM Noshin Anjum beat WCM Wilson Hannah, WCM Wadifa Ahmed won against WCM Reifer-Belle Chanon. The veteran chess player of Bangladesh WIM Rani Hamid, who played her first match of the competition, beat Springer Leshay, and WCM Nusrat Jahan Alo drew against WCM Blackman Katrina.
