Bangladesh Post journo Anwar gets Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award

Mohammad Anwar Hossain, a senior journalist of the Bangladesh Post, has got Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award 2024 for his outstanding contributions to journalism. 

The Bharat-Bangladesh Cultural Society has honoured Anwar Hossain with the prestigious award. 

Justice SM Mojibur Rahman attended the award ceremony as the chief guest during the Bangladesh-India Harmony Festival held at the central Kachi-Kachcha auditorium in the capital on Friday. 

Former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General (retd) M Haroon-or-Rashid (Bir Pratik) and President of Bharat-Bangladesh Cultural Society Bachik Shilpi Suvodwip Chakravorti attended the programme as special guests with freedom fighter Justice Dr. Md. Abu Tariq in the chair.

Anwar Hossain's area of works covers ICT, business, tourism, and environment. He is an active member of the ICT Journalist Forum, Chittagong Journalist Forum-Dhaka. He is also serving as the office secretary for the International Relations Reporters Forum. He is also actively involved in various charity organisations working on poverty eradication, employment creation and educational promotion. 

Also a fellow of the Bangladesh Tourism Booard, he attended the United Nations General Assembly in the USA in 2023 and took part in different international meetings held India, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, and the United Kingdom.

The award ceremony also featured a cultural function. Noted artists from both Bangladesh and India, performed in the event.
