The upcoming two-match Test sereis between hosts Pakistan and visiting Bangladesh slated to begin on August 21 but it seems doubtful due to students have called for a protest demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Pakistan Students Federation has given an ultimatum to the government to release him by August 30.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) does not want the political influence in sports. PCB wants to organise the sereis successfully before the Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place in Pakistan next year. The board is looking forward the help of the government to avoid the unpleasant situation.
In such an awakward situation, the PCB is in huge dilemma.
Bangladesh national cricket team, who is currently in Pakistan, also facing such an embaressing situation, the Tigers went to Pakistan to play the Test series last week. But the Tigers are particiapting inregularl practice sessions.
The India-Pakistan bilateral series was suspended after the attacks of terrorists in Lahore on touring Sri Lanka team. Now the Pakistan government is trying to take the situation under control.
Meanwhile, the Champions Trophy was scheduled to be held in Pakistan in February 2025. So if the current situation will continue and the government will fail to controll the championshions trophy will also became uncertain.
So, the PCB is facing huge challenge of organising the Test sereis against Bangladesh.
