State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid said the country has achieved self-sufficiency in food.
“The country is self-sufficient in food today and the country had not faced food scarcity due to the time befitting initiative launched by the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”, he said while addressing a Mustard Cutting and Field Day programme at Sriram Bari village under Muktagachha upazila of Mymensingh district as the chief guest on Sunday evening. Oilseed Research Center Gazipur of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute organized the function. Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) Director General Dr. Debashish Sarkar presided over the function.
Dr Sohela Akhter, Director, Kondal Crop Production Department, Dr. Md. Shafizzaman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Emdadul Haque, Acting Chairman of the upazila Md. Arab Ali, Chairman of Dulla Union Md. Hossain Ali and Bari-14 mustard farmer AB Sattar spoke, among others. The state minister called upon the concerned officials and employees to increase the cultivation of Bari mustard 14 and 15 varieties as an additional crop besides paddy cultivation.
