Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque said Bangladesh's economic situation is still good where the world economy is in turmoil due to Ukraine-Russia war and coronavirus.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the annual general meeting of the Bangladesh Registration Service Association (BRSA) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Saturday.
The law minister said that in order for a country to be financially prosperous, it has to have a reserves to pay 3 months import bill. The world economy is now in turmoil due to the Ukraine-Russia war and the coronavirus epidemic. Where Pakistan has the capacity to pay 2 months and Sri Lanka only 1 day import bill, we have reserves to pay 7 to 7-and-a-half months import bill of Bangladesh. But even then we are cautious. We want to be frugal.
Instructing the sub-registrars to provide quality services to the people, the law minister said, "Bangladesh has changed now for the benefit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The sub-registrars have to adapt to this changed Bangladesh."
"We want the case to be complicated," he said. But many cases start with land-deposit disputes. The registration department is being digitized to reduce this dispute. If e-registration process can be introduced in all sub-registry offices across the country, it will be possible to provide quick registration service to the people. Land-deposit disputes will also decrease.
Anisul Haque said state-of-the-art training would be provided to sub-registrars to provide e-registration services efficiently. This department is now recruiting from PSC. A sub-registry office building with modern facilities is being constructed in each upazila. The Directorate of Registration has been upgraded as per the long standing demand of BRSA. Arrangements have been made for training of all the officers at home and abroad. District Registrar and Sub-Registrar office buildings have been constructed in different districts of the country under the development project.
BRST President Md. Ziaul Haque spoke at the presidency of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Secretary. Moinul Kabir, Secretary of Law and Justice. Golam Sarwar, Inspector General of Registration Shahidul Alam Jhinuk, Secretary General of BRSA Md. Zahid Hossain and others.
