The 5th Bangladesh Film Festival in Kolkata, India, scheduled to be held at Nandan Cultural Centre, will feature 24 Bangladeshi films, said a press release.
The festival, an initiative of information and broadcasting ministry under the management of Bangladesh deputy high commission in Kolkata, will be inaugurated by information and broadcasting minister of Bangladesh Hasan Mahmud.
The minister will exchange views with journalists at a Meet the Press scheduled to be organised by Kolkata Press Club on Thursday morning.
West Bengal education minister Bratya Basu will be present as honourable guest and Indian film director Goutam Ghose will be present as special guest at the inaugural ceremony.
Ferdous Ahmed, Dilara Hanif Purnima, Aruna Biswas, Apu Biswas, Mamunuzzaman Mamun and Goutam Saha, among others, from Bangladesh are scheduled to attend the festival.
Bangladeshi films, including Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale, Gondi, Birkonna Pritilata, Lal Shari, Guerrilla, Damal, Poran, Gunin, JK 1971 and others will be screened during the festival, which will be held from July 29 to July 31.
