Bangladesh secured a solitary goal win against Seychelles with defender Tariq Kazi scoring the all-important goal in the opener of two FIFA friendly internationals at Sylhet Stadium on Saturday.
The Jabier Cabrera’s man came out with an attack-minded lineup and showed the intentions early, with seizing the match control from the beginning to have tough times for the Seychelles defenders on a breakaway three minutes into the match.
Bangladesh was playing with superb passing games in the early exchanges as they drilled into the Seychelles goal. But had to wait for 43 minute to open the net.
It was almost an open match when Seychelles had also created chances as well at the late hour with Don Maxime and Joshua Henriette coming close to scoring in the 88th and added time from a free kick from outside the area and with a header from the box respectively.
However, Bangladesh failing to open the net at the early stage of the match despite having the better possessions, defender Tariq Kazi broke the deadlock on 43rd minute to lead the first half 1-0.
Jamal Bhuiyan floated a free kick from outside the box inside the danger area and Seychelles defender could not clear it well a Tariq Kzi, who rushed into the penalty area taken perfect header into the net (1-0).
Rest of the time both sides tried to bring the match at their favour and also went closer to score goal but could not reflect well in front of the post.
Bangladesh could double the margin on 61st minute but Eleta Kingsley failed to make his debut a memorable when he shot the ball high over the post having the Seychelles goalkeeper one on one situation after Matin Meah providing him a pass.
Eleta had another opportunity to score goal in the dying minute but this time goalkeeper just grabbed a strong right footer from top of the box.
Seychelles also had a couple of chances with Don Maxime and Joshua Henriette effort were in vein when the former’s free kick narrowly missed the cross piece and next goalkeeper Zico brilliantly globed.
Sohel Rana also had the day’s last opportunity when from a combined attack Matin Meah provided a cross inside the box but Sohel’s left footer was stopped by the goalkeeper.
But overall, in the 90 minute encounter, bangaldesh had clear domination and also created better chances.
The second FIFA friendly match will take palce at the same ground at the Sylhet Disttrict Stadium on March 28.
