Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) in a special drive seized 3.50 lakhs meter current nets that were used illegally for fishing mother hilsa from Tetulia and Chandradip river under Bauphal Police Station of Patuakhali district on Thursday, says a press release issued by BCG.
During the drive, BCG has arrested 11 fishermen with 160kg mother hilsa.
Later, seized current net was destroyed in front of executive magistrate and fisheries officials. However, seized fishes were distributed among the poor and orphans.
Besides, detained 11 fishermen were handed over to Bauphal Police Station
