Leaders of the Bangladesh Christian Association have rejected the statement of Albert P Costa in the name of the association following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s remarks during a meeting with the Awami League led 14-party alliance.
Bangladesh Christian Association president Nirmol Rozario and general secretary Hemanta I Corraya said that the statement of Albert P Costa is motivated and biased, said a release, signed by Swapan Rozario, office secretary of the association.
“Albert P Costa, loyal to BNP-Jamaat alliance, made ill attempts to create divisions in the society in the past. He is still carrying out such efforts,” said the release.
After failing to become a councilor of any branch of the Bangladesh Christian Association during its council session in 2002, he formed the self-declared Bangladesh Christian Association, the release said, adding that his prime goal is to take political mileage.
The release said the Christian community under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman participated in the liberation war. Many of the people of this community became martyred.
“The community believes in the ideology of liberation war and non-communal spirit. It remained vocal against any domestic and international conspiracy in the past. It remains stick to its stance at present and will remain so in the future,” said the release.
