Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said people of Bangladesh are always on the side of the people of Palestine.
The Prime Minister assured it at a meeting with the Ambassadors of 14 countries, which are the members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), including Palestinian Ambassador in Dhaka Yousef S. Y. Ramadan.
Sheikh Hasina also thanked the ambassadors for their courtesy call on the Prime Minister at her official Ganobhaban residence on Wednesday evening.
After the meeting, Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen briefed the media saying that during the meeting, OIC Ambassadors appreciated Bangladesh’s stand on the Palestine issue.
He said that the Ambassadors have agreed that such a moral support should be continued in the days to come.
The foreign secretary further said that it has been discussed in the meeting that there will be special prayers in mosques across the country on Friday for the innocent civilians, mainly women and children of Gaza.
“Now, government is preparing to send emergency medicine and humanitarian aid for the Palestinians”, said the foreign secretary.
The meeting also discussed to find out the root of the crisis and its lasting solution, said the foreign secretary.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized on the unity of the Muslim Ummah on the issue. It is clear that denial of dignified life and living under Israeli Occupation and forced settlements on Palestinian territory will not lead to peace in the region.
“Therefore, Bangladesh underlines the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights to self-determination and supports a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its Capital as envisioned in the UNSC Resolutions No. 242 and 338”, the Foreign Secretary quoted the PM.
It was also discussed that a strong message must be conveyed to the world community.
During the meeting at Ganobhaban, Bangladesh made clear that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman shoed sympathy to Palestine and it would remain continued.
