Bangladesh A tour to Pakistan delayed

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been thrown into disarray following the dramatic resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, with the departure of the Bangladesh A team to Pakistan the latest casualty of the political upheaval.

The squad was due to depart Dhaka on Tuesday morning for a tour comprising two four-day and three 50-over matches against Pakistan A. However, the closure of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for six hours on Monday due to civil unrest forced the BCB to postpone the tour by at least 48 hours.

The decision comes as the cricket board grapples with the fallout from the political crisis, which has seen the departure of key figures with close ties to the former administration. Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh's star all-rounder, is currently in Canada but is expected to join the squad once the situation stabilizes.

The postponement of the A tour is the latest setback for Bangladesh cricket, with the fate of the senior men's team's upcoming Test series in  Pakistan also shrouded in uncertainty.  As the nation continues to navigate these turbulent times, the BCB faces a formidable challenge in maintaining a semblance of normality within the cricketing world.
