Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day celebrated in Ctg

Different socio-cultural and political organisations celebrated Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s homecoming day in a befitting manner.

CVASU: Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Lutful Ahsan has paid deep respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his historic homecoming day.

On Wednesday afternoon, he paid tribute to the mural of Bangabandhu installed in the university campus.  At that time, the treasurer of the university Prof Dr Md Kamal along with teachers, officials and employees were present.  Later, wreaths were placed at Bangabandhu's mural by Teachers' Association, Officers' Association, Employees, Progressive Teachers' Forum and Bangabandhu Teachers' Forum.

CVASU VC said, after being released from captivity in Pakistan, on this day in 1972, the undisputed leader of the nation and the best Bengali Bangabandhu of a thousand years, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman returned to the newly independent Bangladesh.  Since then, the nation has been observing the day as Bangabandhu's historic homecoming day.

CCC: Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Freedom Fighter Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury commented that Bangabandhu's homecoming to independent Bangladesh from Pakistan prison gives inspiration to Bengalis to rebuild the war-torn country.

After placing wreath on the portrait of Bangabandhu at the CCC office near Tigerpass on Wednesday, the mayor said that on January 10, 1972, the father of the independent Bengali nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was released from Pakistan prison and returned to his homeland. After returning home, Bangabandhu announced the creation of an ideal state in a large public meeting.  

He formulated the constitution just one year after the independence of the country.  His inspiring presence inspired the nation to rebuild the war-torn country.

The fact that we people of all religions are living together today is possible because of Bangabandhu's non-communal spirit.  As the foundation of the country was laid by the hands of Bangabandhu, the religious freedom of the people of all religions was ensured.  No one should be deprived of any state facilities due to differences in religion, caste, gender.  Today we do not have Bangabandhu among us, but if we continue to work under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, then we will soon achieve a hunger-free and poverty-free Golden Bangla by ignoring all obstacles.”

Meanwhile, panel Mayor Gias Uddin, Afroza Kalam, Haji Nurul Haque, Zahar Lal Hazari, Hasan Murad Biplab, Salimullah Bachchu, Shahed Iqbal Babu, Shaibal Das Sumon, Abdus Salam Masum, Md Ismail, Abul Hasnat Md.   Belal, Ataullah Chowdhury, Abdul Mannan, Shaheen Akhtar Rozi, Rumki Sengupta, Secretary Khaled Mahmud and CBA leaders, other department heads, officers and employees paid tribute to Bangabandhu.

Chittagong Court Building: A programme was organized by Chittagong district PP office on the occasion of Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day.

On Wednesday morning, on the occasion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's homecoming day, a discussion meeting was held at District PP office in Chittagong Court Building under the chairmanship of District PP Advocate Sheikh Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury.

In the president's speech on the occasion, District PP said, Bangabandhu was the best Bengali of all time.  This nation got liberation due to his far-sighted political decisions, even though there were many leaders at that time, he could not become a great hero of history because he could not take the right decision at the time, Bangabandhu took the right decision at the right time, history proves this.

Truth killed Bangabandhu in 1975 but he could not be removed from the heart of the Bengali nation and from the history of the liberating Bengali nation.  Today this nation is united under the leadership of his privileged daughter Sheikh Hasina.  At the end of the meeting, floral tributes were paid to Bangabandhu's portrait in tribute to his memory.

Special PP Advocate MA Naser, Chandan Talukder, Additional PP Advocate Mostafizur Rahman, Manzoor Alam Shamsuddin Siddiqui Tipu, Nashir Uddin, Tapan Kumar Das, Mohammad Mohsin, Azharul Haque, Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Bidhan Biswas, Moinul Alam Tipu, Nur  Jahan Islam Munna, Rashedul Islam Rashed, Additional GP Fakhruddin Jabed, Tauhidul Alam, Amir Khosru, APP Al Faisal Zahid, Tipushil Jaydev, Abhijit Ghosh, Afzal Hossain, Roknuzzaman Munna, Imtiaz Sohail were present. 

Chittagong University: The historical homecoming day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of a thousand years, the great hero of the ages, the great architect of independent-sovereign Bangladesh, the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation, the great poet of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has been celebrated with due dignity by the initiative of Chittagong University (CU) administration. On this occasion, Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akhtar and Pro VC (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey along with all the university administration paid tribute by placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at CU Bangabandhu Square.  After paying tribute, a discussion meeting was held at CU Bangabandhu Square on the topic of 'Victorious Homecoming of the Dreamer of Independent Bangladesh'.

 Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akhtar spoke as the chief guest and CU Pro VC (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey spoke as a special guest.

CU VC said, “The homecoming of the father of the nation is a historic event for the Bengali nation.  On January 10, 1972, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman achieved great freedom by stepping on the holy land of independent Bangladesh.  Later, lakhs of cheering crowd greeted the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Race Course Moidan.

  CU Registrar (Acting) KM Nur Ahmad presided over and CU Proctor Professor Dr. Mohammad Nurul Azim Sikdar moderated.

 The discussion meeting was addressed by Professor of History Department of CU Dr. Mohammad Anwarul Islam and Professor of CU Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences Dr. Danesh Mia, Dean of CU Law Faculty Professor Dr. Abdullah Al Faruq, Senate and Syndicate Member Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abul Mansoor, Provost of CU Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Prof. Dr. Sajib Kumar Ghosh, President of CU Gene Engineering and Biotechnology Department Nazneen Nahar Islam, CU Officers Association President Rashidul Haider Javed, CU Club (City) Secretary Dr. Md. Morshedul Alam, CU Employees Association President Md. Sumon (and CU Employees Union President Mohammad Ali Hoshine also spoke on the occasion.
