The district administration to celebrate the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day in a befitting manner today.
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bangalee of all times, was born at Tungipara village of the then Gopalganj sub-division, now district.
Marking the day, a doa mahfil and munajat held after Asr prayer. Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, government officials and Muslim devotees, among others, will join the doa mahfil in person. Leaders and workers of the Awami League will place wreaths in front of the sculpture of Bangabandhu on Khulna Betar premises and a colorful procession will be brought out from city's New Market area that will end at the same venue after parading different city streets.
Afterwards, a children gathering and a discussion will be held at the auditorium of Khulna Women College.
Khulna Divisional Information Office will screen documentary films on the life of Bangabandhu at city's Shaheed Hadis Park and Jatisangha Shishu Park.
Khulna Shishu Academy will organise an art and painting competition for children on the occasion.
