Bangabandhu Corner was opened at Biral Upazila Parishad Complex in Dinajpur district, while two safe maternity centres were launched at Nafanagar and Ishania union under Bochaganj upazila of the district.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, inaugurated the Bangabandhu Corner at Biral upazila on Saturday. He also inaugurated the safe maternity centres at Bochaganj upazila on Friday evening.
Under Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA)-GNB CHW Project Good Neighbors Bangladesh launched the two 24/7 Safe Maternity Centres,

Bochaganj upazila Awami League President Abu Syed Hossain, General Secretary Md. Afshar Ali, Country Director of Good Neighbors Bangladesh Representative Anand Kumar Das, Deputy Director of Family Planning Dr. Md. Abu Naser Nurul Islam and others also spoke at the time.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said with the inauguration, a total of two safe maternity centers in Nafanagar and Ishania Unions will provide round-the-clock services to all the poor and helpless pregnant women and children, improve maternal and child health and through this project, people will be encouraged for institutional delivery so that maternal and child mortality rates can be reduced.
Along with the government, this Korean NGO is carrying out various developmental works including healthcare for the people of Bangladesh and they will continue such public welfare work in the future as well. There has been a radical change in the family planning department. Due to the proper leadership of the present government, the population rate in the country has decreased a lot as compared to the past, he added.
GNB's KOICA-GNB CHW project, jointly funded by KOICA, has been working in Bochaganj upazila of Dinajpur district since 2019 to improve maternal and child health.
