Final round of Bangabandhu and Bangamata goldcup football tournament under 17 was held at Jhenaidah Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman stadium on Thursday afternoon. Jhenaidah municipality boys eleven had defeated Kotchandpur eleven by 2-1 goals in Bagabandhu Goldcup, while Shailkupa girls eleven had defeated Jhenaidah municipality eleven by 2-0 goals in Bangamata goldcup football tournament.
Lawmaker of Jhenaidah-2 seat (Shailkupa) Abdul Hyee handed over the championship trophies to winners Jhenaidah boys and Shailkupa girls elevens as chief guest. Jhenaidah district administration and district sports office jointly organized the events.
Jhenaidah - Magura reserved women seat lawmaker Khaleda Khanam, Jhenaidah municipality mayor Saidul Karim Mintu, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Selim Reza, Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Jhenaidah Sadar SM Shahin and district sports officer (DSO) Mahbubur Rahman among others were present. 14 teams in six upazilas of the district participated in the competition.
Lawmaker Abdul Hyee in his speech as chief guest, said the sports and games make people, especially students and young generation people perfect keeping them far away from any evil doings. It helps keeps the body physically fit. Further, the spots bring honour and dignity of any society or nation from home and abroad when their heroes play significant role in events in home and abroad.
Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina, the mother of humanity has been ensuring housing for the bonafide sportsmen playing role on behalf of the nation, Abdul Hyee added.
