All the tourist industries of Bandarban district are going to reopen after five-month of closure due to impact of Coronavirus pandemic.
All government and private tourist centres, as well as all residential hotels and motels of the district, will be reopened from August-17 by maintaining health rules, informed Shamim Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban.
People involved with the tourist industry informed, more than 5,000 tourists arrived in Bandarban in a day during the tourist seasons and reside in some 60 residential hotels and motels of the district town and at the upazilas.
But, due to closure of the hotels and motels from the mid-March, the arrival of tourists in the district also remained suspended. As a result, tourist industry operators incurred a huge loss rendering innumerous people jobless.
Sirajul Islam, General Secretary of Bandarban Residential Hotel-Motel Owners' Association, said that the tourist industry incurred millions of Taka in loss due to closure of the hotels-motels and the tourist centres for about five months. The tourist industry operators have got relieved with the news of reopening of the tourist industries in Bandarban.
