Hotels offering discount to attract tourist

Hotel-motel owners in Bandarban announced a big discount margin of 30 percent for the tourist marking the World Tourism Day on September 27. After lifting the lockdown, number of tourists and travelers have increased significantly in the district along with other tourist spots across the country.

Bandarban, which is also known as the Darjeeling of Bangladesh is one of the most desired tourist destination for tourists of the country. For those who love hilly terrain and hillside views, Bandarban offers a huge varaities of trails, tourist spots and the number of tourist spots in Bandarban is growing day-by-day.  In every season, this district offers unique environment and scenarios for tourists. As authorities has keen to the transportation development projects and tourism sector development in this district, travelers and tourists now can enjoy the beauty of this district with less hassles, officials said.

As a ‘tourist heaven’ Bandarban has quite a lot of places to visit. From the Iconic Nilachal, Meghla, Chimbuk Hillside, Prantik Lake, Meghla Ropeway, NIlgiri which is a Bangladesh Army-operated camp that also is a eye-catching tourist spot, Swarna Mandir, Ramjadi and many more places which define Bandarban as the perfect holiday destination for casual travelers.

Recently, Bandarban district administration with the help of Bangladesh Army has inaugurated several new tourists spots such as Nil Diganda, Sita Pahar, Two Hands point. A new tourist spot Toma Tungi has been inaugurated recently which has created a massive spark among tourists due to the magnificent views of mountains, clouds touching the hills, and constant rainbows forming after rain which can easily be seen from many places of this district. 

On the other hand, Bandarban was always the first choice of hikers and trekkers of the country. From the Iconic Boga Lake to Keokradong hill top, from Tindu to Remakri, Nafakhum, Amiakhum, Debotakhum and many more places offer energetic, challenging trails for beginner to advance level hikers and trekkers. 

On the other hand, Bandarban is also known for many magnificent falls which bedazzle the toursts. Shoilaprapat, Rupali Falls, Farukpara Falls, Amtali Falls, Rizuk Falls, Zadipai Falls, Tinap Saitar, CIngri Falls, Satvaikhum, Remakri Falls, Baklai Falls, Damatua Falls, Karukpara Falls and other formally undiscovered falls mesmorise travelers. 

Authorities in Bandarban recently took several steps to ensure safety of the tourists as the number of the tourists have increased in theis region massively. As all the tourists sports were open from August 19, hotel-motel ownwers, transportation facilitators in the district are now spending busy time to serve the tourists  and to recover from the losses the endure for last one and half year due to lockdown. 

As the tourism sector took a major hit due to Covid-19 pandemic, the decision to open the tourist spots gave a ray of hope to the people related to tourism industry in the district. They are hoping that the number of tourist will be increase soon as the winter is coming. 

After visiting Nilachal, Meghla and several other spots which are administrated by Bandarban district administration , it can be seen that the number of tourists have increased rapidly compared to August of this year. As the weather is much more hospitable to the tourists, everyday, a major amount of tourists across the country visit Bandarban.

A tourist named Shahinur said that he traveled for 14 hours through motorbike from the other side of the country to enjoy the majestic views of Bandarban. Sharif, Rajib, Rakib and several other tourists also came from Munshiganj with motorbikes to enjoy the hilly sides of bandarban. Stating that bandarban is a must to visit place for tourists in Bangladesh, they said the transportation system has massively improved in last few years. If only the transportation cost were a little bit less, the number of tourists would multiply in short time.  

Bandarban Residential Hotel-Motel Owners Association GS Sirajul Islam said that Authorities have ordered more than 165 hotels, motels, guest houses, resorts to open from August 19. Thus more than thousands of employees in tourism sector returned to their jobs again. 

   To celebrate the World Tourism Day, 39 percent flat discount has been announced in all hotels in the district. 

All the residencial hotels, motels and other places have been sanitized properly to mke tourists safe against Covid-19. Usazes of Hand sanitizers is being promoted through hotel and resturent owners and employees.   Free mask distribution programme is also ongoing so that every tourist can safely enjoy their stay in Bandarban, he added. 

Tourist Vehicle Workers Association GS Mohammad Kamal said that thousands of transportation workers in the district were in distressed situation due to the nationwide lockdown for one and a half year. From August 19, the tourism industry revived again due to the end of lockdown. For that reason, transportation workers now can feed their families properly, he stated. 

It is to be mentioned that all the tourist place in Bandarban is strictly following ‘no mask no service’  policy.  As per as the rule, no one can enter any tourist spot without mask. To ensure the hygiene safety of tourists, such rule is strictly being followed, district administration officials said. 

Strict monitoring of health regulation in all tourist places has been implied,  officials mentioned.
