Bandarban buzzed with travellers

No vacant rooms available

There are no rooms available in hotels-motel-resorts in Bandarban for four consecutive days holiday. All are fully booked till October 10.

From Friday (October 7) morning, people can be seen visiting the tourist spots of Shail Prapat, Nilgiri, Chimbuk, Nilachal, Meghla and other spots. All hotel-motel-resort owners and workers are happy.

Bandarban Hotel Resort Owners Association General Secretary Md. Sirajul Islam said that most of the hotel-resorts in the district have no vacant rooms. They are trying to provide maximum service to the tourists.

According to this year’s public holidays list, last Wednesday (October 5) was a general holiday for Durga Puja (Vijaya Dasami), Friday and Saturday (October 7 and 8) are weekly holidays and next Sunday (October 9) there is a holiday on the occasion of Eid Miladunnabi (sa). . Tourists all over the country are waiting for a few consecutive days off to spend some quiet time with their family and chose Bandarban, known as Darjeeling, mountain girl, queen of silver, in Bengal.

Monirul (34), a businessman, came to Bandarban from Dhaka with a group of six people. But he said that he is not getting a room in any hotel.

Anishur Rahman, a 7th grade student, came to visit from Narayanganj Rupganj on school vacation, he came to visit with his elder brother after hearing about the natural beauty of Bandarban. He said it was much more beautiful than what he had heard. He said that he was impressed by the clouds under the mountain.

Kamal Uddin, who is in charge of the car booking counter for tourists of the Microbus, Jeep and Pickup Owners Association, said that by 10 am, 150 cars had left for the tourist spots Nilgiris, Chimbuk-Shail Prapat and Devtakum, Bagalek, Thanchir-Tumatungi. Still, many tourists were waiting for cars at the counter. 

Tarabur Rahman (80), a cloth merchant, came from Rupganj in a bus with 52 people to visit Bandarban twice, including this time, when asked about his feelings, he said that he wants to come again and again to enjoy the natural beauty.

Akkas Uddin Siddiqui, the manager of the three-star hotel Hilton, said that all the rooms at their hotel are booked. Many tourists have returned due to non-availability of rooms. Many tourists were seen waiting at the reception for rooms to become vacant.

Alok Vikas Chakma, manager of Tourism Motel, said that due to the continuous holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja and Eid Miladunnabi, 100 percent of the rooms in the motel have been booked till October 10. Many tourists could not be given rooms despite the demand for more rooms, he added that if this trend continues, the target of the motel will be achieved.

Md. Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Bandarban Zone Tourist Police said that tourists arrive in Bandarban throughout the year. Therefore, to ensure the overall safety of tourists, law enforcement forces in uniform and plain clothes are deployed at tourist spots and also patrol police are on duty, said this police official.
