Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Samity (BANASAS) has arranged a discussion and doa mahfil in memory of recently demised senior journalist and former executive editor of fortnightly ‘Ananya’ Dil Monowara Monu. The programme was held at the office of the organisation at Paltan area in the capital on Tuesday with BANASAS President Nasima Akhter Shoma in the chair.
BANASAS General Secretary Anjuman Ara Shilpi moderated the programme while members of the platform shared their memory and discussed from the eventful life of journalist Monu. Among others, BANASAS Financial Affairs Secretary Israt Farhim, Organising Secretary Maria Salam, Research and Training Secretary Labin Rahman, executive members: Fatima Munni, Shanta Farzana and Halima Khatun, members Flora Naznin, Rarzana Sultana, Shahin ara Yesmin and Sania Sultana, and senior reporter Taskina Yesmin spoke in the event. The speakers commemorated the contribution of the senior journalist in empowering and encouraging female journalists and sought eternal peace to her departed soul.
Senior journalist Dil Monowara Monu passed away on Monday last at BIRDEM General Hospital. She was 68. Monu started her career in journalism in 1974 as a sub-editor with ‘Begum’ magazine edited by Begum Sufia Kamal and Nurjahan Begum. Later, she joined fortnightly ‘Anayna’ as executive editor and was with the magazine for 25 years. She was active in various organisations including Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, and Nari Sangbadik Kendra.
