After almost 4 kg of cocaine was discovered in her luggage, a foreign national was taken into custody at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.
The detainee was identified as Stalia Shantae, a Bahamian national. A ‘package of cocaine’ was recovered from her luggage, according to Ibrahim Kahlil, a spokesman for the airport.
The arrest took place on Monday morning around 10:30 am, according to Deputy Director Humayan Kabir Khandkar of the Narcotics Control Department.
Shantae had travelled from Brazil to Dubai before arriving in Chattogram on Jul 13, he said. She did not have any luggage with her at the time.
“Two days after she landed in Chattogram, she came to the airport to pick up her luggage. She was detained and a package of cocaine weighing 3,900 gm was seized after a search of her luggage.”
She was taken into custody by airport security staff.
Following her arrival in Chattogram, Shantae was observed by the APBn, police detectives, and the airport security team, according to Khalil.
