An awareness week (Nov-18-24) on World Antimicrobial Resistance Week was organized by Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU).
Various programmes, including discussion meeting, rally, poster display, quiz competition, were organized by the university on the occasion. This year the day’s theme of the WHO was 'Connecting Air, Land and Water'.
A colourful procession was brought out on Wednesday morning in the university campus. CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Lutful Ahsan led the procession. Teachers, officers, students and employees of the university participated. After that a discussion session followed and quiz competition was held at CVASU Auditorium.
Prof. Dr. ASM Lutful Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor of the university was present as the chief guest at the discussion event. Professor Dr. Md. Kamal, a senior teacher of the university, was present as a special guest. One Health Institute Director Professor Dr. Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the event. Former principal of Chittagong Medical College Prof. Dr. Imran Bin Yunus presented the key note paper at the meeting.
The panel discussion was attended by the former director general of the Department of Health Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abul Faiz, the former director of Chittagong Divisional Livestock Department Dr. Farhad Hossain, Bangladesh Forest Research Institute, Chittagong Divisional Officer, Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman and Chittagong University Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences Professor Dr. Mosharraf Hossain.
The panel discussion was moderated by CVASU Microbiology and Veterinary Public Health Department Professor Dr. Paritosh Kumar Biswas.
At the end of the discussion meeting, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Lutful Ahsan handed over certificates and prizes to the winners of the quiz competition.
Students of various universities and medical colleges of Chittagong participated in the quiz competition.
