Awareness training for teen girls held in Jibannagar

Awareness training programme and distribution of education and health materials for the teenage girls of Palli Unnayan Kishori Sangha were held at Uthali Secondary Girls’ School in Jibannagar Upazila on Tuesday.

The programme was arranged by Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) Jibannagar Upazila branch. It was part of the second phase of rural employment support project for the poor women.

Two students, Sadika Alam and Jannatul Ferdous, jointly moderated the programme with Deputy Director of Chuadanga BRDB Md Abdul Alim in the chair. 

Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Dr Kissinger Chakma spoke at the programme as the chief guest.

Dr Kissinger said to the students that child marriage and suicidal tendencies need to be prevented. An attitude of savings needs to be developed. He also gave various advices to them to become an ideal human being.

Jibannagar Upazila Parishad Chairman Haji Md Hafizur Rahman, Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hasina Mumtaz, Utholi BRDB Officer Md Jamil Akhtar, president of the management committee of Uthali Secondary Girls’ School and journalist Salauddin Kajal, School Principal Lutfar Rahman, students Sadika Alam, Jannatul Ferdous Medha and others spoke at the programme.

Executive Magistrate of Chuadanga District Administration ASM Abdur Rauf, members of the management committee of Uthali Secondary Girls’ School Sree Sarjit Kumar, Alamgir Hossain, Salim Hossain, Enamul Haque, Muslima Khatun, teachers of the school and more than 700 students were present at the programme.

Jibannagr Upazila Nirbahi Officer Hasina Mumtaz administered an oath to 700 students not to marry while they are underage.

Deposited money was distributed among 4 members of Kishori Sangha, health and educational materials were distributed to 100 students and saplings of various trees, including saplings of medicinal plants and fruit trees, were distributed among 700 students at the end of the programme.
