The members of Brahmanbaria CNG Autorickshaw Owners Association laid seize to the BRTA office on Monday protesting against the suspension of registration of CNG-powered autorickshaws in the district.

This protest took place in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office at the BRTA.

Leaders of owner associations said that in 2023, about 3000 CNG autorickshaws in the district have been officially applied for registration. However, after registering 2,100 autorickshaws, the operation was stopped without any announcement.

CNG drivers are being harassed by law and order forces on the road as it has not been implemented even after a long period of 10 months. At this time, they demanded the registration of the vehicle within a week. Otherwise, they warned of strict measures.

District Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Assistant Director Abu Ashraf Siddiqui said that after the registration process started, a circle of brokers and owner associations complained of taking extra money from the owners. So this activity is temporarily suspended. The problem will be solved soon.
