Audi is expanding the A6 sedan's lineup for the rest of the 2019 model year with a new entry-level A6 2.0T model. Its 248-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four slots below the only other engine currently offered on the A6, which is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. Visually, the 2.0T is distinguished by slightly different exterior styling, doing away with the A6 3.0T's standard S-line package.
The four-cylinder makes 273 lb-ft of torque and is mated to the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as in the A6 3.0T. Quattro all-wheel drive is standard, as is Audi's variable-ratio steering rack. Audi says the 2.0T will hit 60 mph in 6.1 seconds, one second slower than its claim for the 3.0T. In our testing, the 3.0T hit 60 in 4.8 seconds, so the 2.0T could be a bit quicker than Audi's claim.
The A6 2.0T will be offered in two trim levels, Premium and Premium Plus; the A6's top Prestige trim isn't available. Standard on the Premium are features like LED headlights, lane-departure warning, navigation, three-zone automatic climate control, heated power front seats, and leather upholstery. Among items that come with the Premium Plus trim are fancier LED lights, more active-safety systems, a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 16 speakers. The A6 2.0T is also available with features including adaptive cruise control, ventilated front seats, sport suspension, 20-inch wheels, and ambient interior lighting as part of a few different packages.
At $55,095 to start, the A6 2.0T Premium is $4800 cheaper than the base A6 3.0T Premium. The 2.0T Premium Plus is $58,795, a similar $4900 cheaper than the 3.0T Premium Plus. Audi doesn't say when the A6 2.0T will start appearing at dealer lots, but it should be soon, as 2020-model-year Audis are already showing up. If more power is what you're after, though, hold out a little while longer—a new S6 is on its way.
