The Youth and Sports Ministry’s Adviser, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan visited the flood-affected districts of Cumilla and Noakhali on Saturday.
During a meeting held at the Cumilla Circuit House, he said, “A group of autocrats has looted billions from the country, crippling the economy. However, with the support of the people, we can rebuild our nation swiftly. I urge everyone to stand united in facing any disaster."
He called on all relevant parties, including law enforcement, fire services, the Red Crescent Society, the Department of Livestock, the Civil Surgeon, civil society, students, media personnel, and the general public, to work together in combating the flood crisis.
Speaking about the activities of the registered youths under the Department of Youth Development, the adviser has also said that over 18,500 energetic and skilled youths are actively engaged in relief efforts.
He instructed the officials of the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Ministry of Labour and Employment to donate one day’s salary to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund, an initiative he praised the military for already adopting.
Following the meeting, he visited the flood shelter at Uttarda High School in Laksam, where he exchanged views with the flood-affected people, listened to their concerns, and observed the ongoing relief distribution.
Later in the day, the adviser visited another flood shelter in Noakhali’s Chowmuhani, where he reassured the victims of full support from the government.
During a meeting at the Noakhali Deputy Commissioner’s Office, he said the government will focus on systemic reformation to rebuild the country. The movement was not just for a change in power but for the reconstruction of the entire nation.
He concluded by urging everyone to work together to restore peace and stability in the lives of the people, reaffirming the government's commitment to the nation’s reconstruction efforts.
