Popular actress and film director Aruna Biswas is going to receive national recognition, the prestigious ‘Shilpakala Padak 2022,’ marking her significant contributions to the art and culture of Bangladesh at the national level.

Aruna Biswas received the joyful news through a letter signed by Liaquat Ali Lucky, the Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Expressing her excitement about this remarkable achievement in her more than three-decade-long-acting career, Aruna Biswas said, “Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to the love of art and culture. I have cherished acting and pursued it wholeheartedly. I have never lobbied for state recognition, hoping for it. I believed that if luck favoured me, I would receive state recognition one day, and if not, I would accept it. For so long, I have lived with that acceptance.”

“Now, at this stage of my life, receiving state recognition fills me with indescribable joy and gratitude. I thank God immensely. I remember my father with deep respect. My mother and my brother Mithu were overjoyed upon hearing the news. From a distance, my child was very emotional. A heartfelt thank you to Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has always stood by us through thick and thin,” she added.

Aruna recently made her directorial debut with the film, ‘Oshombhob,’ which was supported by government grants. The movie features an ensemble cast, including Abul Hayat, Jyotsna Biswas, Shatabdi Wadud, Shahed Sharif Khan, Swagata, Sohana Saba, and others. Although the film faced challenges in achieving expected success due to the current political situation, Aruna remains content, acknowledging the role of fate in such matters.

She eagerly anticipates the formal reception of the ‘Shilpakala Padak 2022.’
