A youth was detained by the police in Thakurgaon as he set fire to a house of a person belonging to the Hindu community on Thursday.
The detainee was identified as Samiul, 20, son of Khalil Uddin, resident of Darajgaon village under Rajagaon union in Thakurgaon.
It was learnt that, Samiul, along with some other miscreants, set fire to the house of Mohen Chondro in Debipur union under the sadar upazila. The locals caught him when he tried to flee the scene.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhully Police Station, Dulal Uddin, confirmed the matter.
Police and the locals said some miscreants set fire to the house of Mohen Chondro, resident of Darajgaon village in Debipur union on early Thursday. When the locals came forward after noticing the fire, the miscreants fled the scene. However, they caught Samiul red handed at that time. Later, they handed him over to the police.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhully Police Station Dulal Uddin said the locals called the police station at night and informed them about the incident. They caught a miscreant named Samiul while they tried to flee the scene. Later, police reached the spot and took Samiul to the police station.
He also said that they did not receive any formal complaint regarding the incident till now. Legal measures will be taken if they receive any complaint.
