Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Shafiqur Rahman has raised questions regarding the incident of arson on army and police vehicles during protests at Mirpur in the capital.

He said that if the arson was aimed at fulfilling a specific agenda, or if there is a plan to destabilize the country and its economy, then it cannot be taken lightly.

Clashes occurred between joint forces and garment workers in the Kachukhet area of Mirpur 14 in the morning on Thursday.

During the incident, two garment workers were shot, and the agitated workers set fire to separate vehicles of the police and army.

Later in the afternoon, Dr Shafiqur Rahman made a post on the Jamaat-e-Islami Facebook page titled ‘Protest of Garment Workers in Kachukhet, Dhaka: Arson on Army and Police Vehicles!’

In his post, he wrote: ‘Following the recent incident in Gopalganj, this event took place in Kachukhet, Dhaka. If the workers have legitimate demands, it is the duty of the relevant authorities to address them justly.

However, if the arson on army and police vehicles is aimed at fulfilling a specific agenda or destabilizing the country and its economy, then it cannot be

taken lightly.
