A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant for famous actress Arifa Parvin Zaman Moushumi due to a case involving a dishonoured cheque with IPDC Finance Limited. The warrant was issued because Moushumi did not show up in court despite several summonses. The court has set October 16 as the deadline for submitting the execution report of the arrest warrant.
The case was filed on December 3 last year by MM Mushfiqur Rashid, an officer from IPDC Finance. The case concerns a dishonoured cheque worth Tk 106,211. The court accepted the complaint and asked Moushumi to appear in court.
The first summons was sent to Moushumi’s home in Gulshan-1 but was returned undelivered. Another summons was sent to her residence in Bashundhara Residential Area on April 28. However, Moushumi still did not appear in court. As a result, the court issued an arrest warrant on July 24.
MM Mushfiqur Rashid said, “I filed a case against actress Moushumi because of a dishonoured cheque. Despite several summonses asking her to come to court, she did not attend, leading to the arrest warrant.”
Sadia Ayman, who is involved in the case, also confirmed the legal actions. Abu Al Nahid, the legal counsel for IPDC Finance, stated, “A case has been filed against actress Moushumi for a dishonoured cheque. The court issued an arrest warrant because she failed to appear in court.”
The court will now wait for the report on the execution of the arrest warrant, with a deadline set for October 16.
