With the holy Eid-ul-Azha on the horizon, the 10th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army has organised a bazaar named ‘Sena Bazaar’ at Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar to meet the daily necessities and raw market needs of the unemployed and helpless people.
Army organised the bazaar by maintaining social distance. From there, daily necessities including rice, flour, oil, salt, pulses, eggs, vermicelli and various kinds of vegetables were provided free of cost to destitute, poor people.
The bazaar was set up on the premises of Abdur Rashid High School in Chakaria upazila on Thursday.
The army members bought vegetables directly from the poor farmers and brought them to this market. As a result, the helpless people as well as the farmers have benefited by getting a fair price for their vegetables. Local people's representatives said that such a grand initiative by the army on the eve of Eid would greatly increase the Eid joy of the helpless people.
It may be mentioned that the army has been in the field since March 24 in 4 upazilas of Cox's Bazar and Chattogram district. They are distributing hand sanitizers and masks as well as making people aware of the deadly coronavirus.
Apart from handing over rations, rice, pulses, oil, potatoes, onions and soap to the needy families, the army personnel are also providing free medical aid to the helpless poor people. Members of the 10th Infantry Division also joined the Eid festivities of poor families by conducting army bazaar during the last Eid-ul-Fitr.
Before Eid-ul-Azha, the poor people would have been overwhelmed to receive such Eid gifts from the 10th Infantry Division.
They expressed their gratitude and prayers to the army for such humanitarian assistance. Relevant sources said that the humanitarian activities of the army will continue in other areas of the district in phases.
