Despite heavy rains in the last few days, Bangladesh Army’s relief distribution and other public service activities in and around Cox’s Bazar have not come to a halt.
Relief items were provided to poor, destitute and pregnant mothers in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar district by the 10th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army on Friday.
According to cantonment sources, on the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the army members of Ramu Cantonment went to the houses of helpless pregnant mothers of the upazila, ignoring the heavy rains of the last few days. Army members also delivered relief items to the poor and distressed families affected by the recent heavy rains.
Since the declaration of Cox’s Bazar district as a red zone and the announcement of lockdown, the army personnel have been conducting various public service activities including distribution of relief materials, provision of medical aid, free army market, spraying of disinfectants and raising awareness.
It is learned that such service activities will be continued by the army. On the other hand, during the corona crisis and natural calamities, the poor and helpless people have been overwhelmed with emotion after receiving such help from the Army.
The locals said that the distressed and disadvantaged people of the area are benefiting a lot from this humanitarian initiative of the army.
